A little about me, my favorite gear, some FAQ, recent projects and favorite shots.
As a photographer, I’m always on the lookout for gear that can elevate my work, especially when it comes to capturing those crucial moments with ease. Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a Nikon workshop led by the incredibly talented Nikon Creator, Luiz Clas, where we got hands-on with the much-anticipated Nikon Z6iii. Let me tell you—it absolutely lives up to the hype!
First Impressions: Lightweight & Steady
One of the first things I noticed about the Nikon Z6iii is its lightweight build. For someone like me, who’s always juggling cameras during a fast-paced shoot, this feature makes a world of difference. It’s easy to grip, feels sturdy, and doesn’t weigh you down, which is especially helpful during long sessions or when switching between stills and video. Speaking of video…
Stabilization for Smooth Video, Even for Beginners
I’ll be the first to admit that video isn’t my strongest suit—I’m much more comfortable behind the lens with still photography. But the in-body stabilization on the Z6iii was a game-changer. Even with my limited video experience, I was able to capture steady shots that I wouldn’t have been able to achieve with other cameras. The Z6iii’s stabilization ensures smooth footage, reducing the likelihood of shaky or unusable video, which is ideal for content creators or photographers who want to start experimenting with video.
Impressive Features for Video and Photo Alike
Although I tested the Z6iii primarily for video, its overall performance is equally impressive for photography. With Nikon’s excellent autofocus system, capturing sharp, detailed images is a breeze, even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. We had the chance to test this during the workshop, and I found that the camera’s low-light performance was also top-notch—something that can really make or break a shoot, especially in editorial or wedding photography.
Why It’s on My Wishlist
After spending time with the Nikon Z6iii, it’s clear why this camera is making waves in the industry. From the lightweight design and ergonomic grip to the stabilization and performance in low light, it checks all the boxes for both still and video work. While I’m a proud user of the Nikon Z8 for my professional photography, the Z6iii is now at the top of my wishlist as the perfect second body—particularly for video projects or more casual shoots where I need versatility without sacrificing quality.
Final Thoughts
If you’re in the market for a camera that delivers both incredible still photography and smooth, steady video footage, the Nikon Z6iii is one to consider. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out with video, the lightweight build, easy handling, and built-in stabilization make this camera a powerful tool for any creative.
Big thanks to Luiz for the fantastic workshop and to Nikon for letting us get our hands on this amazing piece of gear. I can’t wait to add it to my collection!
