A little about me, my favorite gear, some FAQ, recent projects and favorite shots.
I recently had the opportunity to attend a Nikon workshop led by the incredibly talented Nikon Creator, Luiz Clas. The event gave us a hands-on experience with Nikon’s new Z6iii camera, and it did not disappoint! One of the standout features I explored was the Creative Picture Control—a game-changer for anyone looking to add artistic flair to their shots without spending hours in post-production. Here’s a breakdown of my experience and how you can use this feature to create cinematic, magazine-worthy images.
Testing the Nikon Z6iii in Low Light
During the workshop, I pushed the Nikon Z6iii’s capabilities in a low-light setting. The camera handled beautifully, even at ISO 1400, with the lens set between F/1.8-3 and a shutter speed of 1/400. But what really stood out was the Creative Picture Control feature, which allowed me to achieve a cinematic feel in-camera, without any need for post-editing. The ability to see the effect live as I shot was incredibly convenient, giving each image a polished, editorial look straight out of the camera.
What is Nikon’s Creative Picture Control?
Nikon’s Creative Picture Control is a powerful feature that gives you a range of preset styles to choose from, such as “Dream”, “Bleach”, “Melancholic”, and “Sepia”. These presets apply unique visual effects directly in-camera, enhancing your images in real-time. Whether you’re looking for vibrant colors, dramatic tones, or a cinematic mood, Creative Picture Control lets you achieve a specific aesthetic with just a few clicks—no editing software needed.

Why I Love This Feature
For photographers like me, who often shoot in varying lighting conditions and are always looking for ways to save time, this feature is a real asset. In the workshop’s low-light setting, the Creative Picture Control made it easy to add a cinematic feel to my images without having to spend extra hours editing afterward. Plus, being able to see the effects live as I compose my shots means I can tweak the mood or tone immediately—this makes for a more efficient, enjoyable workflow.
Perfect for Editorial and Cinematic Styles
The Creative Picture Control feature is ideal if you’re aiming for a specific aesthetic, whether it’s a romantic, dreamy feel for a wedding or a dramatic, moody tone for an editorial shoot. It’s a must-try for photographers who want to push their creative boundaries while streamlining their workflow.
If you’re thinking about upgrading your camera or just want to try something new, I highly recommend giving the Nikon Z6iii and its Creative Picture Control feature a go.
